GSIPP at
University of Texas, Dallas
As a member of the Technology Business Council (TBC), WGI trains and recruits the brightest University of Texas at Dallas (UTD)
students before they reach the job market. Over 40 Freshmen students
are involved in the Gifted Students Industrial Practice Program (GSIPP),
a joint venture between the Telecom Corridor® TBC and UTD’s Erik
Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. These students are
the best in the state based on test scores, grades from a challenging
curriculum, standing in high school class, math and science projects,
etc.
WGI will choose a select group of students to develop mentoring and
business relationships throughout their 4-year college career to make
sure they receive a good industrial practice experience. Initial
introduction to these candidates occurred September 19, 1997 at the
GSIPP Special Fair Day on UTD’s campus. This exciting program
introduces high-achieving engineering and computer science students to
part-time employment.
